It is not common knowledge that vast sand dunes exist on the east coast of Tasmania but Damon had noted these dunes while flying on one of his trips to the area. The day of this photograph, Damon had walked the dunes from dawn, looking endlessly for the right balance of composition and light. Throughout the day the light was harsh and nearly colourless and It was only very briefly at sunset, that the sunlight softened and the colours of the dunes at last became apparent.
